See? Sometimes I do know my stuff. :)

I'd tried to hack the Quick Ring to have Egress before now. It just doesn't work when you simply attribute the spell to the item. Likely a specific hardcoded thingy for the angel wing. I never looked any deeper into it.

if you've managed to have the Running Ring to egress... well, I can see why you'd do that based on the name, but it feels wrong to switch it to a different ring than it originally belonged to.


I think they restored it in SFCD. I can't recall exactly though - I don't remember egressing much in that.



And yeah. 12-Man Marathon is designed to use a team of 12 from the off. Anything less will likely lead to difficulties later. Playing on Super will destroy your self-esteem bit by bit.

So I have an interesting bug playing through the Shining Force 2 - Milestone Edition - 12-Man Marathon ...

I've played it through a few times without a hitch in the past but now .. whoopsy.

My upgraded Lemon turned into a Mud Golem :(

It would be great if Lemon could get promoted to RBRN as well. Can't find the post but someone found that RBRN actually had a better counter and/or dodge change that BRN?

Is Claude any good? I plan to play this at some point using only Claude, Zynk, Sarah, and Bowie.

I could have sworn I fixed that. I'll look into it.

As for promoting to red baron, that's not gonna happen for two reasons. Firstly, he uses the warrior promotion route and it was beyond me to make a divergent promotion just for Lemon. Secondly, the Lemon equip bug observed in gens plus is tied to the red baron class.

Yeah Claude's a beast so far. From the original SF2 I remembered him as having super high def but if anything he seems more like a glass cannon this run through, he definitely has the highest attack at this point.

Ah fair enough, to be fair I'm probably using a version that's a year or two old, so you may very well have fixed it in your latest version. Love your work on this by the way, hands down has the most replay value out of any SF2 mods I've played.

For me, I feel the perfect mod would be the functionality of Milestone 12 Man with the monster HP of BigNailCow's Hardtype.

Sounds good :) I never used him in the original since he joins late same with Zynk but once I finish with Battle Royale I will give this mod a bash.

Edit: Finished it with 4 peoples on Normal - Bowie, Claude, Zynk, Karna O_O

Thanks for the mod! I just got it downloaded and working the other day.

What's Taya's spell progression as a Mage/Wizard? I'm doing a Wizard squad with Zynk and Claude, because those two came way too late initially.

You'll receive them direct to inventory at the appropriate points in the game after completing battles. Dropped items like the power and protect rings are unchanged.

Ya I noticed after a few battles. I'm really enjoying this hack. I'm surprised how good Higins is and I'm really curios to see Frayja as a MMNK.

My guess is unpromotion does wonders to otherwise crappy characters, allowing for some much needed stat point accumulation. I admit I haven't tried the hack at length, but I plan to.

The pre-pro guys do get a disability in that they're not given an opportunity to be above average. Even if you promote at 20, there's a chance (~20% [1]) a character's def and atk could be around four points above the average.

If we're still using the same numbers I provided way back when, that was before we had a good model of simulating stat gains during level ups. There's a few minor anomalies: Higins and Jaro get a bit too much defense, Sheela too much atk, Zync and Claude get too little atk so they'll generally get screwed out of being able to roll "above average" (they'll almost always receive the pity bonus for a bit directly after promotion, so they're very normalized).

Eh, if we're going to modify Taya's spell list, I'm willing to do a more accurate pass on the pre-pros.

Glad you're having fun with it.

FYI, Frayja as a MMNK kicks arse. He ends up with a higher attack than basically anyone.


Space King, it's good to see you still popping in. If you have some new ideas about numbers and spell progressions, I'd be interested to hear them. I may or may not implement them depending on time factors elsewhere, but I am interested if pregressions can be smoother and more sound.
